Blood that runs red, white, pink… and even orange
A local family with global taste
Born and raised in Kendal, we’re a family that has always been passionate about the wonderful world of wine. We love nothing more than discovering hidden gems from unexpected producers and sharing them with our nearest and dearest. It has opened our eyes to the rich and vibrant oenophile community—beyond the pretension and haughtiness that many people often associate with the industry.
So, we decided to turn our mutual hobby into a business, enabling us to explore more, taste more, and share more (you lucky lot).

Ron
Ron has owned and run local pub The Factory Tap since 2015—so he brings the business and management experience, ensuring everything runs smoothly alongside his unofficial role as Head Taster.
Son,
Al
Al has worked alongside his dad for many years, learning the ins and outs of managing an independent hospitality venue. He’s also a keen cook and is responsible for the exquisite food platters and snacks that 5 o’Clock Somewhere offers.
Daughter,
Alice
Alice left a career in graphic design in 2020 to take a minimum wage job at a wine bar in York and begin her WSET qualifications to fully immerse herself in wine (almost literally). With the formal alcoholic education safely under her belt, she now leads on 5 o’Clock Somewhere’s wine list as well as running monthly themed wine tastings.
